On September 22, 2021, UNESCO-ICHEI and ASEAN University Network (AUN) Secretariat formally signed the "Memorandum of Understanding" to advance the cooperation in the digital transformation of higher education in ASEAN countries and the empowerment of teachers with digital skills.

After establishing cooperation with Southeast Asia Education Ministers Organization (SEAMEO), this signing of MOU paves the way for on-ground cooperation of UNESCO-ICHEI and AUN to engage more ASEAN higher education institutes to enhance the capacity building and institutional governance for digital transformation of higher education, and develop quality regional partnerships.

Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, AUN Executive Director, expressed his great expectations for the tangible cooperation with UNESCO-ICHEI such as smart classroom, teacher trainings, educational applications of artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies. He specifically pointed out "The current global pandemic has brought many changes, but it somehow accelerated the process of HEIs in adapting their teaching and learning by using ICT. Under this background, our collaboration with UNESCO-ICHEI is very exciting."
