The University of Zimbabwe (UZ) is the oldest public higher education institution in Zimbabwe, located in the capital city, Harare. Established in 1952, UZ is recognized as the country’s most prominent university. As a leading institution of higher learning, UZ comprises eleven faculties covering a wide range of disciplines, including Agriculture, Environment and Food Systems; Arts and Humanities; Business Management Sciences and Economics; Computer Engineering, Informatics and Communications; Education; Engineering and the Built Environment; Law; Science; Social and Behavioural Sciences; Veterinary Sciences; and Medicine and Health Sciences. The university offers a diverse array of degree programs and research initiatives. UZ is accredited by the National Council for Higher Education under the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education and uses English as the language of instruction. It plays a central role in training professionals for Zimbabwe and holds a significant position in the higher education landscape of Southern Africa.
